36 Weeks

First off I would like to apologize for the delay in posts.  I had surgery a couple weeks ago and typing with one arm proved to be a pain in the a$$!!!  We had a couple appointments in the meantime, and some new pics too!!  The first was regular OB (now weekly) checkup and a group B strep swab, which as of yesterday, results were not in yet.  The next  (which was yesterday) was a followup ultrasound for Choochies big head (which is apparently not so big anymore), and the weekly regular OB checkup.  The ultrasound we had was definitely the last (barring something of the wall happening).  Everything came out perfect!!  Her head measured 87th percentile as well as her legs.  Her belly was 55th percentile.  She is still measuring at about a week ahead of schedule, at EWF of 6lb 10oz.  I think her body finally caught up to her ginormous head!!  😆  As with the rest of the pregnancy, Choochie is not cooperating!!  She is still breech (Frank Breech), and the doc said that she will most likely stay that way.  Not a big deal at all though since we are scheduled for a c-section anyway.  Lets just hope she stays in there till then!!  We are on the final leg of our journey, and the finish line is in sight!!  As of today, we are at 19 days and counting!!

Here are the last pictures you’ll see until we welcome her into the world, and into our family!

On to the Chooch!!

How far along? 36 Weeks 5 Days

How big is Choochie this week?   Choochie is about the size of a crenshaw melon, now about six pounds in weight and measures slightly more than 20 inches in length. Growth will experience a slowdown now. Almost all development is complete!  Blood circulation, for instance, has been perfected and  Choochies immune system has matured enough to protect her from infections outside the womb. Other systems still need a few finishing touches.  For example, digestion, which actually won’t be fully mature until sometime after birth.

Sleep? Jess had a night or two really good sleeps this week!

Movement? Alien!!

Food cravings? Milk Way (thanks to Halloween),Federiccis Pizza, Apples (chocolate covered),  Apple Jacks,  Water!!!!

Emotions: EXHAUSTED!!!!!!!!!

35 Weeks

We had another ultrasound this past week.  The doc ordered it up a couple months ago.  They wanted to get some fetal growth measurements since Chooch was conceived through IVF.  Her EFW was 5lb 130z.  She is measuring about a week ahead of schedule.  All her measurements were in the 60 to 70th percentile except her head.  Her head measured in the 110th!!  The doc said he viewed pictures and he didn’t think there was anything to worry about.  There wasn’t any fluid on the brain, and the ventricles looked perfect.  He scheduled another ultrasound to see if anything changes.  I guess we’ll have more info after that.  In the meantime, check out “another” snapshot of the little bugger!!

On to Chooch!!

How far along? 35 Weeks

How big is Choochie this week?  This week Choochie weighs over 5 pounds and could be up to 20 inches long.  She weighs about as much as a Honeydew melon!! She is accumulating fat at a rapid pace, but has pretty much reached the in utero limit in height by now. Choochies once skinny arms and legs are now getting plump!!

Sleep? What’s that?

Movement? Crazy Movement!!

Food cravings? Federiccis Pizza, Apples, Cheese Doodles,Apple Jacks, Water!!!!

Milestones? The Room is (for the most part) done!!  Clothes are being washed and put away in the furniture!!

Emotions: Ups and Downs and completely exhausted!!

29 Weeks & A Dry Run!

Last night was our first scare/dry run to labor and delivery!!  Jess and I were relaxing on the couch watching tv, when weird cramps began to occur.  She described them as feeling like period cramps.  We tried all the tricks to get them to go away, water, left side laying, you name it, we tried it.  When we both realized it wasn’t subsiding, Jess put the call in to the doc.  The doc called back real quick and gave us our marching orders!  We gingerly made our way out the door, and to the hospital.  We ended up in labor delivery with Jess hooked up to the cardiotocograph, and then we waited.  The doc ordered aFetal Fibronectin test (fFN), an ultrasound (cervical measurement, and check on the Chooch), and urine screen.  Thankfully, all tests and monitoring came back normal.  We ended up being discharged (very late may I add).  At least we know what to expect now when the actual day arrives!!  😆

One good thing that came out of last night was that we got to see Choochie again!!  The ultrasound tech was kind enough to print us out another photo!!

As for the past week, we had a couple more OB appointments.  One was a checkup with the doc, and the other was an ultrasound.  The doc checkup went well except for the news that Jess had failed the 1 hour Gestational Diabetes Screening.  The doc stressed not to worry.  He ordered the 3 hour screen and said many people fail the 1 hour but pass the 3 hour with flying colors.  I’m glad he was right, because Jess got the results of the 3 hour yesterday, and she passed!!  Other than last nights drama, and the Gestational Diabetes debacle, everything was pretty quiet.  Here is a shot from last weeks ultrasound.

Now, On to Choochie!!

How far along? 29 Weeks 5 Days

How big is Choochie this week? She weighs nearly three pounds now and measures about 17 inches, about the size of a butternut squash. Even though she’s getting pretty close to her birth length, she still has to chub out a bit.  Over the next 11 weeks, she’ll more than double — or even come close to tripling — her weight!  Choochies wrinkled skin is smoothing out as more fat is deposited under the skin surface.  This fat, called white fat, is different from the earlier brown fat that Choochie accumulated.  Brown fat is necessary for body temperature regulation while white fat (the fat you have now) actually serves as an energy source.

Sleep? Jess dreads the time at night when we go to bed!!

Movement? Sometimes Choochie looks like she’s going to jump right out of Jess’ belly!!

Food cravings? Bar Pie, Chicken Parm, Chicken Fraincaise, Gatorade (red), Pink Lemonade, Water, any type of sweets!!!!

Milestones? OB appointments every 2 weeks now!

Emotions: Ups and Downs!!

28 Weeks & a B-Day!!

Yesterday was Jess’ Birthday!!  She turned the big 31!!  We both thought we would have long been parents by now, but all I can say is that we are blessed.  Better late than never!!

Last week we had our final (hopefully) appointment with the high risk / super cervix measuring doc.  The measurement remained the same from when the original shortening occurred.  The doc felt comfortable that this would probably be the status quo for the rest of pregnancy.  The only thing that could drastically reduce the size of the cervix quickly, would be labor.  We got a couple more snapshots, and he sent us on our way.  We graduated from another doc!! Woo Hoo!!

 Now on to Chooch!!

How far along? 28 weeks 3 Days!

How Big Is Choochie? Choochie is now about 2.5 pounds and almost 16 inches long, the size of a Chinese Cabbage.  She’s busy adding new skills such as blinking to an already impressive repertoire of tricks like coughing, sucking, hiccuping, and taking practice breaths. Choochies sleep now includes the REM (rapid eye movement) phase — and that means she could be dreaming already.  Though her lungs are nearly fully mature, she still has plenty of growing to do.

Sleep?  Jess dreads the time at night when we go to bed!!

Movement? Sometimes Choochie looks like she’s going to jump right out of Jess’ belly!!

Food cravings?Bar Pie, Chicken Parm, Chicken Fraincaise, Gatorade (red), Pink Lemonade, Water, any type of sweets!!!!

Milestones? We are officially in the third trimester!

Emotions: Ups and Downs!!

27 Weeks

Yesterday, Jess, Myself, and some of the family took a little trip to View A Miracle.  We decided we wanted to do this from the beginning, but had to wait for the optimal time for Choochie (26-34wks).  This is the same place Jess went for the surprise gender determination.  I have to say it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen, and I am so glad we were able to share it with family!  Check out the video of our little miracle!

Here is a couple stills from the session

That is definitely a experience I will never forget.  It will be pretty cool to show Choochie when she gets older too!!

The last couple weeks have been pretty quiet.  I had some ups and downs and a little (another) injury, but I will live.  As for Jess, she’s doing good.  She is totally tired all the time, but trucks right along!!  She’s a trooper!!

Now on to Choochie!

How far along? 27 weeks 2 Days!

How Big Is Choochie? Choochie is about the size of a head of cauliflower, fifteen inches, and more than two pounds!  Choochie can recognize our voices now!  Her muscle tone is gradually improving, and her lungs are capable of breathing air but if the Choochie was born now, she would need medical assistance to breathe!

Maternity clothes?  Everything Maternity!!

Sleep?  Jess dreads the time at night when we go to bed!!

Movement? Sometimes Choochie is out of control, and others she just rolls around.  She has taken an affinity to kicking me in the face.  She won’t move when my hands are there, but as soon as i put my face there, POW!!!!

Food cravings? Bagels, Grilled Cheese, Tomato soup noodles, Gatorade (red), Pink Lemonade, Water, any type of sweets!!!!

Gender – confirmed again this week.  I thinks it safe to paint the nursery now! 😉

Milestones? Choochie has moved on to a whole new growth chart this week.  No more crown to rump, it’s head to toes!! I think Jess is definitely getting the Braxton Hicks contractions now as well!!

Emotions: Not too bad this week, we did have one minor episode yesterday, but the problem was solved, and all is well!!
