After a terrible night last night for Jess, she had to get up at the butt crack of dawn and head back over to the docs office. Today was her CD5 blood test and ever so exciting/wonderful ultrasound. (Yep she didn’t get away without one this time!). The headaches seem to be leveling out, and she’s still getting some hot and cold flashes. The most uncomfortable thing has become the bloating! She is completely full all the time! Otherwise today is the best she’s felt since the injections have begun. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that this continues!!
Her ultrasound results were– Endometrial Lining at 4.2, 2 measurable follicles on right side 10 and 9, and 1 measurable on the left side 8. Blood Test results – E2 level 224. They want her continue the same meds today and tomorrow, but add the Cetrotide shot tomorrow. The Cetrotide shot is to prevent ovulation.
Today’s Meds – Jess’ Injections – Menopur(2 vials and 1/2 cc diluent) and Follistim (300Units). Kenny 200mg of doxycycline

Today was Jess’ first day this cycle to do her injections alone. I am at work and wont be home until tomorrow morning. From what I could get over the phone, she was having the normal headaches, hot and cold spells, and tummy aches. Today’s new symptom is uncontrollable emotions. This is the symptom I don’t like, especially when I’m not there to get her through it. We both went to bed early. She has her first ultrasound for this cycle (after starting stimulation meds) tomorrow morning. Let’s hope for a bunch good measurable follicles!!

This morning was Jess’ first Doc visit after starting the injections. She had a blood test only. No ultrasound today (Woo Hoo for that!!). Her E2 level was 91. They want her to continue on the current amount meds she has been taking for the next 2 days. They will adjust them in necessary following Wednesdays appointment. Last cycle her Day 3 E2 level was 134. I’m guessing that reduction of Follistim in this cycle from 375 to 300 is the cause of the lower number. Her last cycle resulted in OHSS, so this is why they have lowered the Follistim dose. As for her physically, a little bit of tummy pain at the injection site, and the terrible headaches have started again. The usual hot and cold flashes are back as well.

To start out I would like to welcome anyone here from ICLW!! You came here right at the perfect time!! Please forgive these boring posts (that I’m spewing out everyday). Especially the three I shot out today, which according to the date of this post, is actually tomorrow. That would make today, yesterday or, vice -versa. Now that the confusion is cleared up, the reason I’m dumping a bunch of posts on you at once, is because I fell a little behind in writing when we got started with the stimulation meds.
Anyway, we are currently involved in a cycle, and I like to try to document everything. Yep, that means annoying, daily posts, that only provide information. I’ll try and throw some emotions and humor in every once in a while, but I’m not promising anything!! So lets get to the meat and potatoes for today!!
Jess decided to do her injection tonight a little earlier than last night. I think the same thing happened last cycle. The meds are making her have some trouble sleeping. The last cycle, we pushed them 15 minutes earlier each day until she felt comfortable when she went to bed. Nothing else ground breaking to report, some hot and cold flashes, injection site pain, etc… Jess is again taking it like a champ. She does her shots and gets right back to doing what she was doing. For me, on the other hand, I am a big baby. I don’t have to inject myself with anything with any adverse reactions, I only have to take my doxycycline and then complain about how it upsets my stomach. I want sympathy too!!!

Yes I know, my countertop is an ugly color, it came with the house!
And so it begins!! The wait is over. Today is game day. Jess has her game face on, and I am wearing my cheerleader outfit. I might even head out and buy pom poms today. I’ll try anything once! (there are limits to my previous statement)
She has 1 shot to do tonight. It is a subcutaneous shot (short needle) in the stomach. The doc has her mixing 2 bottles of Menopur, with 1/2cc of sterile diluent (because the Menopur comes as a powder). Then we have to mix 300 units of Follistim into the previous mixture. It’s a whole mad scientist kinda thing!
