To start out I would like to welcome anyone here from ICLW!! You came here right at the perfect time!! Please forgive these boring posts (that I’m spewing out everyday). Especially the three I shot out today, which according to the date of this post, is actually tomorrow. That would make today, yesterday or, vice -versa. Now that the confusion is cleared up, the reason I’m dumping a bunch of posts on you at once, is because I fell a little behind in writing when we got started with the stimulation meds.
Anyway, we are currently involved in a cycle, and I like to try to document everything. Yep, that means annoying, daily posts, that only provide information. I’ll try and throw some emotions and humor in every once in a while, but I’m not promising anything!! So lets get to the meat and potatoes for today!!
Jess decided to do her injection tonight a little earlier than last night. I think the same thing happened last cycle. The meds are making her have some trouble sleeping. The last cycle, we pushed them 15 minutes earlier each day until she felt comfortable when she went to bed. Nothing else ground breaking to report, some hot and cold flashes, injection site pain, etc… Jess is again taking it like a champ. She does her shots and gets right back to doing what she was doing. For me, on the other hand, I am a big baby. I don’t have to inject myself with anything with any adverse reactions, I only have to take my doxycycline and then complain about how it upsets my stomach. I want sympathy too!!! 😉
Today’s Meds – Jess’ Injections – Menopur(2 vials and 1/2 cc diluent) and Follistim (300Units). Kenny 200mg of stomach splitting doxycycline!!!!!! 🙁
Yes I know, my countertop is an ugly color, it came with the house!
And so it begins!! The wait is over. Today is game day. Jess has her game face on, and I am wearing my cheerleader outfit. I might even head out and buy pom poms today. I’ll try anything once! (there are limits to my previous statement)
She has 1 shot to do tonight. It is a subcutaneous shot (short needle) in the stomach. The doc has her mixing 2 bottles of Menopur, with 1/2cc of sterile diluent (because the Menopur comes as a powder). Then we have to mix 300 units of Follistim into the previous mixture. It’s a whole mad scientist kinda thing!
It has been almost a year since our last cycle, so the RE made us do another orientation. It wasn’t too bad, same forms to fill out, same meds to go over, etc… As for Jess, she unfortunately had a surprise Sonohysterogram, as well as a practice transfer. Thank god this was nothing like the HSG she got a year ago. That messed her up for days. The picture below is calendar of events for this upcoming carnival side show!
This cycle will be virtually identical to the last one we did, preferably with a better outcome! Meds are the same (amounts are slightly different), and timing is the same as well. Today is Jess’ last day of BCP’s. Today is also delivery day for her meds. Injections begin Saturday!! This brings us to the 1st week of March for both of our retrievals, and 3-5 days for subsequent implantation.
Wish us luck!!!
Day 10 is pretty much the same info as all the other days. The only change is that the Doc has decreased Jess’ meds. She had her usual Ultrasound (10 measurable follicles), and Blood Test (E2 at 2332). This will be her last night of the multiple stimulation injections, her hCG shot is tomorrow. I think she is looking forward to Thursday, as she doesn’t have to take any meds at all. The Docs have coordinated the schedule and everything is set in stone. I have my procedure on Thursday morning at 9am, and Jess’ retrieval is Friday morning at 10am. I’ve got my fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong. We have made it this far without a major hiccup!
Meds Taken – Injection for Jess – Menopur (1 vialsand 1/2 cc diluent) and Follistim (300 Units), and Cetrotide (.25mg), Citranatal Vitamins
Jess had her every other day trip to the Doc this morning. They did the usual blood test, and ultrasound. Her E2 level is 1281, with 9 measurable follicles showing on the ultrasound. The Doc gave the order today to begin coming in every day from now on. I guess this means we are coming down to the wire. Jess has been such trooper with the process so far, especially since most of the past Doc visits, along with all the rest of the Doc visits, are being done on her way to work. They also told her today, that tomorrow will be her last day of her stimulation cocktails (See Below – Meds Taken). She will get the old hCG shot on Wednesday. This puts my PESA procedure Thursday morning, and Egg Retrieval Friday morning. Yippee, I can’t wait!!
Meds Taken – Injection for Jess – Menopur (2 vials and 1/2 cc diluent) and Follistim (375 Units), and Cetrotide (.25mg), Citranatal Vitamins
